Kimayo gana el maratón de la Ciudad de México
Los kenianos triunfaron en el XXVI Maratón Internacional de la Ciudad de México, en una prueba que dominaron desde los 300 metros del recorrido cuando se ubicaron en la punta del grupo de corredores.
Hillary Kimaiyo, repitió su triunfo del año pasado, y dominó la prueba desde el inicio, la cual concluyó con un tiempo de 2:13:04 horas. En el 2007, el atleta africano ganó la prueba al cronometrar 2:15:55. Sus compatriotas, Julius Keter y Philip Metto finalizaron en segundo y tercer lugar con tiempos de 2:14:02 y 2:14:37 horas, respectivamente.
En la prueba de mujeres, las corredoras locales compartieron el podio, con Paula Apolonio en primer lugar registrando un tiempo de 2:40:25 horas tras tomar la punta del grupo desde el kilómetro 30.
Adriana Fernández y Jessica Patricia Rodríguez le siguieron con tiempos de 2:41:45 y 2:42:02 horas, respectivamente. Kimaiyo aseveró que le agradaría regresar el próximo año para volver a participar en esta prueba, aunque quiere antes firmar un contrato con una marca deportiva y entonces charlará con su jefe, para que lo vuelvan a traer acá.
“Me gusta correr este maratón y me gustó la ruta, pero tuve muchos problemas por tanta vuelta”, dijo el corredor de 1.87 metros de estatura, 64 kilogramos y 26 años de edad.
A su vez, el mexicano Armando Capula Torres, quien fue el maratonista local mejor ubicado en esta prueba, en noveno sitio con registro de 2:21:17 horas, se mostró contento con su rendimiento y lamentó que la prueba haya sido dominada otra vez por los atletas africanos.
“Fue un recorrido bastante pesado pero tuve una preparación que gracias a Dios me permitió terminar la prueba. Esta es la segunda vez que corro este maratón, me siento contento porque tenía pensado hacer 2:20 (horas de recorrido) y además mejoré mi resultado porque el año pasado terminé en quinceavo”.
